My name is Jeff Duke and I am the Executive Director for The Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving. My experience with the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method has been nothing short of a personal dream come true! I was introduced to the program by our regional development consultant, Debbie Dean and have been enthusiastically sharing my progress with my family, friends and co-workers ever since.
My wife and I were stressing out over our weights and the upcoming June wedding of our son…we were determined not to be embarrassed by ourselves in the pictures or try to dodge the photographer throughout the entire reception! We began the program on March 14th and have been thrilled by our weight-loss and inches reductions. I have tried for many years to fight “the battle of the bulge” through diets and exercise and while I always achieved some measure of weight loss, it never seemed as though the reductions were going to be permanent or that I had actually really lost just the fat that was the enemy.
Learning about the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method and looking at the science behind the “Why” it is such a successful program was incredibly enlightening to me. After all those years of working hard on exercising or following a (nationally advertised, retired athlete endorsed) diet program that required eating 6 times a day (and feeling like I could have eaten my hand between every meal!), I finally understood why those methods never led to such amazing and more importantly, lasting results like Ideal Protein…carbohydrates.
By not eliminating the excessive carbohydrates that were the actual culprit of my weight gain I was never getting to the state of being able to metabolize fat. All that exercise (sure it was good for me) wasn’t reducing my waistline and sure, the lower caloric intake was allowing me to drop some pounds, but I could tell that it wasn’t just the unwanted fat that was being reduced, I was losing muscle as well.
After 4 weeks: I have lost 25 pounds; my body fat% is down 5.61 points; I’ve lost a total of 11.25” from my chest/waist/hip/upper-arm/thigh combined. I have just had my first follow up set of labs done by my PCP and will be anxious to see if the results are improved.
I’m wearing 38” pants which I haven’t been familiar with in 15 years! I’ve been answering everyone who asks me, “How did you lose the weight?” with the following, “If anyone in the past could have ever told me that losing weight could be this easy, I wouldn’t have spent the last 20 years being fat!” IP will truly be my last diet because I now have the knowledge and the tools to lose the fat… and since I’ve given away all of my “don’t-need-’em-this-big-clothes” I am never going back there again! 🙂
Update After 8 weeks: I have achieved my initial goal and am currently in Phase 2! I have lost a total of 42 pounds (198#) and am now at my lowest weight since high school (1981); I’ve lost a total of 19.75” from my chest/waist/hip/upper-arm/thigh combined. I’m wearing 36” pants which I never dreamed I’d fit into just a few short months ago.
My laboratory results were nothing short of life-changing…my triglycerides went from 305 to 85; my total cholesterol is at 125 with a perfect HDL/LDL ratio; and my fasting blood sugar went from 140 to 108 after just 4 weeks on the diet…I can’t wait for the next lab work-up to see how low they can go! My physician has taken me off of my blood pressure medication and we are going to evaluate my need for continuing Metformin after the next lab cycle…stay tuned!
5/1/2014 Update After nearly 1 Year of Maintenance: I completed my initial goal as planned well in time for the wedding nearly 1 year ago. At that time, my family from out of town could barely recognize me! Now that almost a full year has passed, I have maintained my weight loss and I am absolutely thrilled. With another wedding on the way in May of 2015 (this time our daughter!), I am planning to restart Phase 1 again in September to reach a new milestone. I am targeting my weight at 180# and a body fat percentage of 15%. Since I know that I have been able to maintain my weightloss with what I learned from Ideal Protein and the knowledge of Maintenance in Phase 4, I am confident that I will reach that new goal within 4 weeks…Now that I understand the science behind Ideal Protein, It really does Just Make Sense!Jeff Duke
